Old Time
Old-time music is considered a precursor to modern country music, deeply rooted in the diverse cultural influences of Irish, African, Native American, and broader European traditions. It was the vibrant, communal party music of its era, bringing people together for dances and social gatherings.

Folk
Folk music, and all of its adjacent genres, contain timeless songs that are simple, carry a great melody and have solid lyrics. These qualities make for music that is highly familiar and makes jamming easy.
A lot of Peter's playing has developed by going to Bluegrass and Folk jams.
Here is "Paradise" by John Prine.
Country Blues
Hank Williams, Chet Atkins and many others played Traditional Country Music with a bounce to it.
Ragtime, Western Swing and Country Blues all have a bounce to it that makes you want to dance, while also delivering heart felt lyrics.
